Watch this video in which we are narrating the story of the unsung folk artists of Maharashtra. <br /><br />Don't forget to Share, Like & Comment on this video<br /><br />Subscribe Our Channel Artha : https://goo.gl/22PtcY <br /><br />1 Vasudev is the name of a nomadic tribal clan that wander from temple to temple enacting the religious stories of Vitthal-Rakhumai or Krishna.<br /><br />2 They are adherent male devotees of Lord Krishna who perform enactments and are mostly noticed on festive mornings, precisely during Diwali.<br /><br /> 3 The ancient cult of Krishna Vasudev has existed in India for centuries and is still prevalent in Maharashtra.<br /><br />4 Every single member of this clan is also referred to as Vasudev, who sings devotional songs on the tunes of the musical instrument called Chiplya or Kartals (hand cymbals).<br /><br />5 This cultural custom is followed by young descendants of the clan in rural regions. They traditionally roam around the towns in groups or as a single Vasudev.<br /><br />6 The songs of Vasudev draw special attention as they either highlight the societal issues or have a message for the welfare.<br /><br /> 7 He performs in a peculiar style where he recites his songs along with delicate dance steps<br /><br />8 His appearance is as attractive as his performance. He wears a distinctive white-orange outfit of traditional dhotis and often applies a pink colored Tilak on his forehead.<br /><br />9 He also wears the necklace made of beads and shells and Rudraksha Malas. He also wears conical headgear that has peacock feathers tucked in it.<br /><br />10 Few call them traveling godmen and others identify them as the Maharashtrian devotional town criers.
